People often think that jobs and titles give you power, but power comes from something within. The power comes from never backing down even when the canvas looks horrid and rubbish worthy. If the last few months have taught me anything, they have taught me how to use my voice. I use it to help, education, encourage and I try to use it to restore.
After I quit my job I didn’t know what I was going to do. I was no longer this person who found themselves tethered to a badge. Instead God had given me the strength to take what I learned and apply it to the world. Little voices of discouragement come in every now and then saying nobody cares, but then I think about the people who need me the most. I don’t know why anyone would give a blogger an investigation job, but that’s what happened. God put me where he wanted me, so I could learn something. Perhaps, my clients saw it before I did. I’ve had them pray over me, thank God for me, and even make sure I had coffee well into my 20th hour at their home. I still don’t know what’s around that corner, but I know whatever it is, it will be something, I’m destined for.
Never forget, inside everyone sits a light that gives them hope. That light might burn a little taller, brighter, and stronger in some of us, and appear to be on its way out in others. Yet, with love that light can become energized. There are no families too impoverished to succeed, or too perfect to fall. Even I can use a little help in the parenting department from time to time. So, don’t beat yourself up if today was a bad day. If you’ve found yourself running in the bathroom sitting on the toilet crying your eyes out for a few minutes because of stress, it’s okay. I promise, it’s okay.
