Did Trump And The Republicans Count On Voter Suppression As a Way To Win 2020?

There are so many questions tied to this election. Perhaps one of the most perplexing questions is why COVID-19 was allowed to spread without containment by the top people in US government? As I write this article our states are seeing alarming rates of COVID-19 pop up from state to state. What I find repulsive is how some leaders are saying it was too easy for people to vote during a pandemic.

So, just what did they want the states to do? Did they want Trump’s voters being the only voters, voting during the pandemic? Did they really think the rest of the country was going to stay silent about how they felt about Trump and his handling of the country? What about the voters who wanted to vote, but they wished to remain safe while doing so? Here in Texas, Republicans tried to take away early voting days. The results would have resulted in fewer people being able to vote. Mail-in ballots weren’t on the table for all Texans, and some of these voters feared for their safety due to the spread of COVID.

Trump declared himself the winner on the 3rd of last month as if he knew something the rest of America didn’t know. He had already slowed the postal service; a few states had embedded complications in place to hinder mail-in ballots. Texas made sure we had one dropbox per county, and some of our counties have hundreds of thousands of people, if not more.

So, while some Republicans were doing a fantastic job to suppress voters in their red states, blue states were trying to make sure ALL of their voters would be able to vote. Pennsylvania, which is one of the four states targeted by Paxton, agreed to let their citizens vote by mail due to the pandemic. This move would allow the state to collect ballots from any eligible voter. However, there was a hiccup that prevented the ballots from being counted until the night of the election.

With most of the mail-in ballots being for Biden, the result turned out to be in Biden’s favor. Now, we are seeing Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, and GA being contested by some states that pretty much did what they could to suppress the votes of those who feared for their lives. Georgia election officials informed the public that Trump lost GA because he scared people out of voting with his lies. https://www.businessinsider.com/georgia-top-election-official-says-trump-depressed-his-own-base-2020-11

Georgia wasn’t the only red state that suppressed votes during this election, but it was perhaps one of the only ones that got caught up in the quagmire of tampering with elections. Did Trump and his base willingly spread COVID-19 so they could make sure Biden’s voters would stay at home and away from the polls? Who knows!

However, what we do know is the following, the Republicans are doing what they have been doing for years. This time they are doing it on a larger scale. They are trying to silence millions of votes. They are risking the sheading of our constitution due to their allegiance to Trump.

It is kind of surprising to see a group that hates to see people taking a knee to The Pledge of Allegiance, rip the Pledge of Allegiance into shreds over their allegiance to Trump. We have lost our way.

Impeached President Trump Means Uncertainty For 2020

Today history is being made in the House. After years of fighting and whispers of abuse of power, the House has finally impeached President Trump the 43rd President of the United States. The vote showcased a devided House with members from both sides showing various emotions. At times some members seemed to be a little too happy while others were down right angry.

Many of us thought life was finally going to get back to normal after the Mueller Report. It was a start again moment with hopes for a clearer path to finally getting things done.

Sadly, as soon as the ink was drying on the login sheets, President Trump was right back at it. This time he was in the works of taking down another political opponent. He was accused of temporarily withholding funds to Ukraine because he wanted information on Biden. For many of us this produced a sinking feeling. The Democrats had finally gotten their break. As more information came forward it started to showcase a pattern of behavior.

President Trump only released the funds which still haven’t been funded to Ukraine after Congress started sniffing around. The cat was already out of the bag, so he was on damage control. By obstructing Congress from doing an investigation, he put his presidency in danger.

Using foreign money to gain dirt as a means to influence Biden’s election is something totally in the realms of bribery and blackmailing. If anyone sees this as a small thing, then I question the location of their moral compass. President Trump has a uncanny character flaw and we can’t risk that type of mindset with our future. So, no matter how we feel about immigration, guns, or the economy, we must try to remain grounded by our values. There is a likelihood that Pence could become president. If he becomes president he could appoint Trump as VP, but I do not see that happening. There is also a possibility that Trump serves out the rest of his term.

So, what happens today and months to come? We have people that still need help in this country and no matter who it is, they will now be our only hope for continuing the economic push that Trump started.

To my 63 million siblings, I am sorry. I am sorry that your needs and your future wasn’t enough to keep President Trump on the straight and narrow. If only he would have believed in his ability to continue to change things without placing his presidency in jeopardy by acting like an upcoming monarch. I am sorry for you more than anyone. Your voices have been heard and you will not be forgotten.

Again, I will remind you that we are the engine that drives this country. We can let people drive it into the ground or we can vote according. At the beginning of this presidency I was all about the wall until a noise grew louder. I couldn’t overlook curruption and that’s why I am okay.

The root to all evils.

Chicago, The Ignored

Last night I turned on my radio and ran across an interview on Fox. I want to say it was right before the Laura Ingraham show, but I am not certain because I was listening in my Jeep. I heard an interview with some residents of Chicago that broke my heart. One lady mentioned how bringing in the National Guard and putting a curfew in place would be about the only way to help the city. After I made it home, I found the program it was on, so I want to post the interview and show you how this city is dealing with their anguish.

You know, I am not a supporter of Trump or really anyone at this point. However, I do find myself liking Andrew Yang because he is the only one not trying to cash in on the shootings from this weekend. At this point, I just find it incredibly sad that people are saying that they need help and so many of our leaders aren’t listening. It brings me back to the Janise Harris case when she was reported missing and then social media was able to grab on and she was found in a matter of hours. During those hours, tweets went out to President Trump, Senator Harris, Senator Booker, Oprah Winfrey, and Former President Obama. It was trending half of the day for the United States and nobody said a word. This 15 year old Chicagoan was missing and not even the leaders in Chicago would take notice. Finally, after hours more the outlets in Chicago took notice. Yet, the mayor and the representatives of the city stood silent. As a result of the neglect, the city has become under siege by crime. They had a shooting take place on Sunday which saw at least 7 people die in two different incidents with more that 50 people injured. This is the information from their CBS news.

In the 90’s I visited Chicago, that was my first time seeing people get shot at. From out of nowhere a group of young guys came running and you could see a little stream of smoke. They yelled that someone was shooting at them and my friend and I both ducked down and hid as they continued running on their way. It was a real wake up call for me and my future in Chicago. Needless to say, I soon called my parents and asked if they would buy me a ticket to come back to Texas.

The harsh fact is that the residents of Chicago might not have any other choice but to live in Chicago or sadly, die in Chicago because that appears to be the outcome. Our government has forgotten them even today we hear about the other two mass shootings, but we hear very little about how Chicago is dealing with their death. We do not talk about how a hospital had to stop taking victims in Chicago because of the amount of wounded.

In many ways it feels as if we are leaving a man down in a burning building while we are looking for others to save. Once again leadership comes into view. Who are the leaders and what are they doing to improve their towns? Gun control should not just be a focus when the climate seems ripe and ready to yield a reward for those running for office.

In cities like Chicago gun control might not be enough anymore. We might need to start bringing in martial law just like the citizen asked on the Fox program last night. What are your feelings on bringing marital law to an American city if it means saving the city in the process? Please vote below.

My Daughter’s Encounter With The Police

I’ve been struggling with something lately. This past weekend my daughter walked to the store which isn’t very far from our house. She informed us that on the way to the store a cop slowed down to a near crawl and drove beside her. She then stated that it made her nervous so the turned around and walked the other way. The policeman then turned around and proceeded to follow her in that direction as well.

Due to the cop making her nervous she decided to go to another store which ended up being a little closer than the first store she planned on visiting. As she entered the store, the cop drove away. We have had talks about staying away from trouble. She does a good job of it, to be honest. She doesn’t really go anywhere with anyone. We have covered the basics, even warned her about staying away from hoodies which is something she had on last weekend. She hates the sun! I’m feeling kind of confused and stressed about the policeman following my daughter, to be honest. I never thought I would have to explain the dangers of being a minority female on foot. We tell her to watch out for strangers, watch out for people who look jittery, but we haven’t had to talk to her about watching out for cops.

I used to bake cupcakes and bring our cops back in Garland treats to help show our appreciation. Hell, I would even go to Taco Bell and grab food just to take it to patrol cars to show how much we cared. I’m scared because the atmosphere is changing and in many ways it has changed. I told my daughter something totally different this weekend when we talked about the encounter with the officer. I told her to be careful, face the officer, and smile if he follows you. Then I started thinking about what I was saying. Why was some officer following my daughter around and is she safe here in this small town, we call home?

Just what do we tell our children about interactions with the police?
