Why Is Texas Still Manipulating Virus Data?

According to new data published from articles in Forbes and other outlets Texas has once again changed the way our numbers are tallied in terms of infections and deaths stemming from COVID-19. https://www.forbes.com/sites/karenrobinsonjacobs/2020/07/28/reporting-changes-for-covid-19-deaths-in-texas-florida-may-give-ammunition-to-hoax-believers/#5337d9a4547e

If you have been following COVID-19 and the outbreak in Texas, you know that this isn’t the first time Texas has revamped their reporting. Back in May articles were written in The Atlantic and other outlets showing that Texas was not representing COVID-19 factually. https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2020/05/cdc-and-states-are-misreporting-covid-19-test-data-pennsylvania-georgia-texas/611935/

Our site published an article in the same month detailing how two eateries within minutes from each other were closed at different times due to COVID-19.https://shellzonit.com/2020/05/13/two-eateries-come-down-with-covid-19-and-they-are-less-than-7-miles-apart/ The newest numbers on death spikes due to COVID-19 comes as no surprise to those of us who have been tracking the virus.

For many of us, we are hearing about COVID-19 cases each week. My husband’s office is once again closed because of another COVID-19 case. This makes the third shutdown within 6 weeks. Not every case has resulted in a shutdown which is perhaps the reason why his office has been closed for at least five consecutive days now. After his boss came down with COVID-19 he and the coworkers could not get tested. Since then, there have been at least three other cases.

I fear this is a common problem circulating in many businesses across Texas. We still have companies that are not closing down properly and making sure their buildings are cleaned to wipe out the virus. With practices like this we are going to continue to see the rise in cases. We may never know the true amount of COVID-19 cases in Texas or other states that are trying to hide the data from the people. However, as I have stated in the past, you only need to look around you. The answers are there, Google your COVID-19 cases every 24 hours and it will show you any local organizations that have closed due to COVID-19.

At this point, we cannot trust Governor Greg Abbott because he is an extension to Trumpism which right now seems to be a danger to all Americans. This is a very sad time for our state. Many of us trusted Abbott and even encouraged others like myself, to vote for him. However, he has shown us that politics come first, and that is something we can never have. We are watching the eroding of a party because the key members sold their souls for financial gain. Yet, I am encouraged by groups like The Lincoln Project. The following video could have been written from my heart and many others like myself.

A Letter To My Fellow Christians Who Embrace Chaos.

As we finished up Bible study last night I started thinking. I wondered what Jesus would say about the whole mask situation. We know Jesus was selfless which is why he died on the cross for people like you and me. He died to save the rich, poor, strong, weak, and undecided from torment. He never put a price tag on a person’s life. He instead gave us stark warnings on things such as money and pride. In 1st Timothy Chapter 6 we are warned that money becomes the root to all evil.

For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

So, I think back on the mask issue and on some of the closings. I stated weeks ago after Texas first reopened that we would see problematic situations pop up because it wasn’t done right. Here we are once again standing at the edge of another shutdown. Bars have closed while some eateries have had to cut back on the amount of people who can attend their establishments and now some cities are requesting closures.

We opened too soon because we wanted to save money, our state forced people off unemployment insurance and into the hands of COVID-19. The push for money was so great that we had leaders going on TV telling people it was okay to let certain age groups die for the sake of the economy. Some of those same people were talking about saving the church yet their actions proved to be so far from any church I’ve ever heard of.

Luke 16:13 – No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

This is not the Christianity I recall from my youth. God has never changed, but apparently some of our hearts have changed. Some of us are walking around with our heads held high proclaiming to know God, but willing to hurt our fellow man with the next breath. Are we no longer asking ourselves how we can best serve God? Is our personal comfort worth more than our souls? Jesus gave up his life for all of us, but some of us aren’t willing to give up a few moments by covering our faces to prevent others from getting sick. What a small world we live in, what a small tight world we live in. Our hearts have become darkened by our pride and by selfish wants instead of the betterment of each other. We no longer walk around with the spirit of love, we walk around with the spirit of malice. Yet, some of us still sit in church and play at being holy. If you embrace evil, you will become that evil little by little. That’s it really. We should want to do better.

Partisanship Is More Dangerous Than COVID-19 In Texas

Over a month ago I warned about the dangers of opening Texas after visiting a park location shortly after our leaders initiated the reopening of Texas.

Part of our requirements for reopening detailed people gathering at parks in small numbers with social distancing and the suggestion to wear a face mask. However, wearing a mask and social distancing were soon forgotten as people hit the sun.

Today we are finding that a large number of younger Texans are getting COVID-19 and it isn’t surprising. Greg Abbott never followed through with any of the consequences for people breaking protocols set by the CDC. In all honesty, he did not follow those guidelines. Texas never saw the decline in cases that should have preceded any sort of reopening. Abbott and others like him blindly followed Trump. They did so at the risk of our lives and countless others.

At minimum the government should have mandated mask and a safe path towards reopening. This has been a very confusing time for my own young adult children. I have three children ages 14 to 22. The 18 and 22 year old have struggled with Governor Mom, yes I like others, had to become the official, serving in my household. Okay, maybe not official, but I had to certainty put my own rules in place. It has been difficult at times, the Black Lives Matter protest was a big issue and my girls wanted to be right in the thick of it.

All I could do was go by the numbers I had been studying on a daily basis and do my best to explain why the protest would be a health threat. At times I felt hard-pressed because I am black and I wanted to very much be part of the movement. However, my 14 yr old has lung issues due to childhood illnesses. My at risk person is my child, so I stayed put. My girls also stayed put because they did not like my 14 day self isolation rule if they went to the protest. We ended up staying at home and joining other KPOP lovers by drowning out racist tweets. It wasn’t the same as walking in the streets, but it was our way of standing up for something bigger than ourselves. Take the racist tweets out one by one!

This brings me to the whole idea of partisanship. You can be part of something or a group and still have a voice. It is up to us to elect people who can be bipartisan. Right now partisanship is our biggest threat because it is forcing people to pick sides. They are putting ideology over commonsense. You cannot lead a household this way, nor can you lead a country in this manner. Partisanship stops progress because it deletes others from being able to voice their concerns and have them taken into consideration. Think back to the start of Coronavirus in the US. Have you seen both groups ever really come together in a bipartisan way? The answer is NO. We are a country divided to the core. Our leaders are divided and estranged from each other.

Frankly, I am feeling very discouraged because there is a lack of guidance. It not only creates problems in our country, but also in our households. It is enough to make a person pause and wonder what comes next?

Texas Is Once Again Back Under Disaster Declaration Because Of COVID-19.

Well apparently, Greg Abbott extended the disaster declaration. While it is most certainly too little too late, we are now headed for a state of unknown in our areas. While he has extended the declaration, he is still going on with the opening of the government which is crazy. Take a second to think about this. He is telling people that we have to extend the declaration, but he is still opening the state back up. https://www.kltv.com/2020/05/13/gov-abbott-covid-disaster-declaration-extended-all-texas-counties/

We now have nurses talking about troubling spikes in cases of COVID-19. Some like the man in the video below detail situations that we really haven’t seen in this state. https://www.kvue.com/article/news/health/coronavirus/austin-coronavirus-nurse-fight-against-covid-19/269-94ac9c6e-e66b-4cb3-83e6-df0d6c13bcf9

It’s kind of sad when you think about it. At this moment we have mayors who are fighting their hardest to keep cities like Dallas, Austin and other large cities safe while Paxton our AG is going around threatening them for trying to keep Texans safe. The government opened too soon, they were shielding people from getting in trouble for breaking the laws which were put in place to contain this virus. This created a vacuum of confusion. There were no real consequences for people who did not go by the laws which were never enforced because the Republicans wanted to play God.

Just this weekend I reported a situation where hundreds of people were found at one of our local parks without any protective wear.

While some of our leaders fell on the side of clueless, some of the establishments aired on the side of safety. Places like Ross and Cinemark refused to open due to the risk of COVID-19. If you look at the way admission was being handled at the parks, you knew there were still large problems in terms of this virus. There was no human contact with the worker as they waved people through.

Just a week ago people were standing on the outside of the Texas State Capitol with signs wanting to return to work and get hair cuts. Well, I hope it was worth it. I hope that hair cut was worth the cup of pain that is now following because they couldn’t learn how to trim dead hair. This virus isn’t going to be the death of us, the people in office will be the death of us because they are too busy playing God.
