I didn’t think much of this encounter until I heard Mueller’s report. A week ago my husband was talking to our neighbor across the street and he reported that a strange Russian man walked up to his house. He informed my husband that this man started up a conversation while he and his wife sat on their bench. He reported that the conversation started out about how things were hard and then it got crazy which resulted in his wife walking into the house and shutting the door. He then stated that he informed the man that he didn’t agree with whatever he was saying and he quickly followed his wife inside. When my husband asked him if he had ever seen the man, he responded that he thinks the man came from a local homeless shelter.
Last night all of the lights went out in the neighborhood. I freaked out and out of nowhere, I thought about Russia. Now, I haven’t been afraid of Russia since I was a little girl scouting out hiding places inside my classroom. Yet, after hearing the report from Mueller yesterday, I am fearful. This isn’t about politics anymore. Who was the Russian man on my street and why was he walking down the street saying random things to random people? What made the next door neighbor so uncomfortable that he wouldn’t repeat the conversation? Be careful and watch out. This could have been random and meant a big fat nothing, but if it isn’t take care to be on guard.
The politicians are out in numbers, but I have yet to hear anyone address the issues with social services. We have talked about the Green New Deal, Guns, but where are the conversations about revamping social services?
One of the biggest reasons I fell out of love with being an investigator was because the state turned it into a number count game. They started emphasizing on investigations being wrapped up within 30 days and even in some cases 15. There’s real danger in playing a numbers game when you are dealing with life and death. I had this one case which was a matter of life and death. The case was centered around a mother suffering from Munchausen Syndrome. She had managed to do all sorts of things to her child for years until finally a social worker caught wind of something that seemed a bit off. When I got the case the child was in a protective environment and it was also controlled.
I had the department breathing down my neck because they wanted me to let the child out of the hospital, but at the same time, I felt like something was off. Finally the test came back and I was right. However, I still got my hand spanked when we went to trial and even managed to piss off our lawyer and the judge. Had it not been for the doctor breaking down on the stand I would have balled my eyes out, but I knew what needed to be done, so no yelling or evil eyes could stop me.
Looking back on that case, I learned a lot about people and the whole reporting process. This mother was able to do unthinkable things because she appeared to be the perfect mom on paper. She had all the right answers, and she was semi educated. Not to mention her family knew judges and other people high up in the department. Had she been from another walk of life, she would have been caught a lot sooner.
I learned that people choose and pick who they want to report. If you are poor your chances of being picked goes up a lot more than if you are rich. Keep in mind that 85 percent of the cases are bogus, so that means that only 15 percent are real abuse. If we are really only seeing 15 percent of real abuse cases called in, we have to wonder, where are the rest? People aren’t reporting abuse like they should. People are reporting annoyances at much higher rates. Some schools even give out certificates for their staff members reporting abuse.
I’ve said it before and I will say it again. The entire system needs to be revamped. There needs to be a better way of reporting child abuse and there needs to be a penalty for calling in false accusations. Perhaps child abuse needs to get a hotline similar to 911. The current system lets cases be routed anywhere from 24 to 72 hours. Perhaps, we need a system that lets people go out right away.
In cases where child abuse has occurred and the child was seen by school officials, doctors and other professionals, investigations need to be geared not only towards the parents, but also towards the people who saw these children. We need to figure out how or why things were never called in because if we are just seeing 15 percent of abuse cases, we are missing trauma.
Will all the conspiracy lovers come out and play? With the newest arrest Roger Stone who is from the Trump camp, we should all be wondering, who’s next. Are we going to see Kushner go down soon? If he goes down, get ready for Trump to soon exit. I no longer see this as funding for a wall. This is about a person trying to damage our government. For those of you who disagree, let me spell out one simple fact for you. The draft for the National Emergency Deceleration was put into works yesterday.
Follow me, this is now 35 days into the shutdown. He knew within the first week that he wasn’t going to get funding for his wall, so if it were that much of an emergency issue, he would have called for the draft then. He promised his followers that he would slash the government. I think you guys inadvertently gave him the perfect alibi. He would be able to take down the government, much like his friends from North Korea and Russia. Trump likes dictators if you haven’t noticed, he glows when he’s around them.
Now, with some of you giving him the perfect alibi he’s able to cover anything and everything that he does under the cloud of a campaign promise. The promises will not be questioned because people will think he cares about his people. In reality, he’s trying to change the face of the government by force. This was never about a wall. We all focused on the wall and argued among each other, and some of us are still on page 100 of this 200 page novel.
This is what you have to understand, Congress will not want to admit that they were had. They are still on page 100 while the rest of the country is nearing page 200. The Democrat and the Republicans need to find a way to sign whatever he places before them so we can get the government on track. The boys are shrinking in on him and his only recourse is to slash the very things they need to keep going. Write your congressmen and tell them to support whatever we need because we can’t have our nation under siege. I know how much America means to you, and I know some of you are just as sick about this, as I am. Put pressure on the congress to do protect the American people at all cost. Simply put, the argument about the wall is no longer valid. This is an argument about the future of America.
Giving in does not always mean giving up, guys. A couple of years ago I was working a case and a crazy guy came up to me and cornered me against my Jeep. He started talking about what he was going to do and he blocked me from escaping. He just kept getting closer and closer until we were damn near touching. The only thing I could do was think of how to get out of the situation at that moment. I played his game. I was like okay, I have time for a quickie, but I need to do this really fast or I’ll get in trouble for work. His eyes got wide and he smiled. I surprised him, he didn’t know I was shaking on the inside. He was like I’ll stay with you and we can go together. I reassured him that I just needed a few seconds. I asked him to show me his house. He would have to back up in order to show me his house, so when he backed up, I jumped into my Jeep and locked the doors. I took off. Now, I prevented something that would have been an assault. That’s kind of what we are dealing with right now as a nation. It’s better to live and deal with the issues right now because they might become unbearable later.
