It is now almost 11 p.m. on Tuesday night. By now, we have all unleased our anger over the bombings of Al- Asad and Erbil bases in Iraq. I will be the first to say I flipped out. Seeing the missiles going towards our base infused me with hurt, anger and a feeling of despair.
Iran has stated that at this point they pretty much consider it even Steven in not those exact words. If America stands down they will not persue the matter any further. Meanwhile, questions are coming forward. People are wondering how America manages to leave the situation without damaging it’s reputation as a strong force to be reckoned with.
I wouldn’t want to be in President Trump’s shoes for even a split second tonight. He has to make a decision on how his country will continue. If he caves, what will it mean for the rest of the international community? At this point we know how we got here, but the meat of this story is where do we go from here. Do we retaliate and go full blown into a world war? Or will we see something different from Trump this time around? Will he take the time out to talk to all members of Congress and hammer out a reasonable plan.
Up to this point, Trump has done Trump. Meaning he has done what he wants when he wants, but now he has to come to terms with a new reality. People will live and die by the choice he makes in the next few days. I cannot even begin to say what I would do in THIS situation, but the one thing I know I wouldn’t do is exclude seasoned minds on either sides of the table. He will need to trust like never before if he wants to save our great country !
I consider myself to be an independent minded person. I am not a Republican, and I am not a Democrat. I am by all means an Independent. I believe that political candidates should be judged independently. Most of all, I do not gives passes when it comes to life and death situations.
With all of this, the idea a voting to enhance a specific party sounds horrendous to me. I feel like each individual has to be weighed and considered for what they stand for. Over the past 3 years I have been on the ropes in regards to voting in the 2020 election. While, I respect some of the things President Trump has accomplished in office. I can’t overlook the severity of some of the issues that continually keep popping up.
If you know me, you know that I love history. I feel like history teaches us how to become better citizens and how to prepare for the future. We learn from the mistakes of leaders before us and also from the successes.
This week there’s been a lot of talk about the impeachment, the hit job on an Iranian General Qassim Soleimani and the term patriot. Here’s the tricky part, Trump has done great things with employment, great things with the criminal justice system, and he’s helped to improve veterans affairs. However, the shady dealings are sooo shady when it comes to Trump. Living under Trump’s presidency is like living with an unruly teenager. Just when you think things can’t get worse, they do.
Trump doesn’t want to be the leader he was voted in office to be. He wants to lead for one group without trying to run the entire country. By not talking to BOTH the Republicans and Democrats he chose to ignore half of the country by shutting out their voices. If America goes into another war, it is important for all sides to agree on the stage. We need space, allies and direction. Right now Iraq is asking us to leave as well as other nations. We are locking ourselves out of the Middle East by having him as a leader and perhaps changing our part in history as being the good guys.
Lastly, if you try to blast me with being unpatriotic, I have this to say. I do not support someone who would have been a Benedict Arnold in the Revolutionary War. Our ancestors would be rolling around in their graves right now because they know he plotted with foreign countries to interrupt our voting process. People need to do some soul searching when in comes to our future.
Why didn’t we have school shootings and massive bullying when we were younger? It is mainly because of one word and it begins with the letter P and ends with the letter S. PARENTS! We talk about guns and mental health a lot in this country. However, I haven’t heard people talking about the lack of discipline in our country because of fear. When we allowed the government to come into our houses and take on the position as the silent parent, we opened the door for disruption.
Some of you might find it ironic as hell that I am taking this position, but there’s a reason behind it. When I was in the academy for investigator training, one of the first things we learned was that the majority of CPS cases would be fictitious. I didn’t want to believe it because surely 85 percent of cases couldn’t really be just parents, trying to be parents. However, after I graduated the academy and cases started coming in, I soon learned the dark side of reporting.
While a handful of my cases were actual abuse, the majority of my cases were not abuse. Many of them were cases with teens or preteens who were out of control. Some of the children were so out of control that their parents could no longer afford to take care of them. In many ways, we have the government to thank for this epidemic. Parents are scared to parent because anything and everything can be used against them when it comes to reporting.
We are talking about in some cases parents raising their voices, spanking, removing doors, and talking to children about their weight issues, these are some of the things that parents did to get CPS called on them which always resulted in Rule Outs. The calls would come from clinics, schools, family members, or people involved in custody fights.
A single mother was using a provider for her newborn and she didn’t feel like the doctor was really showing the level of concern that she needed, so she switched providers. The clinic called in a case on the new mom with a load of lies which were easily picked apart due to records. I have always and will always say CPS needs a new screening method. The current method does more harm than good. If you have a reporting system that lets retaliatory accusations flourish then you have a broken system.
There needs to be some form of punishment for false accusations because there are too many false allegations that result in stagnated parenting. Good parents become fearful of future calls and stop reinforcing rules out of fear of future CPS interactions. This fear then spreads to family members and friends which later interrupts how the family is able to parent. Keep in mind in order to close cases investigators must contact references even if the case happens to be fictitious. Thus spreading fear of how and what parents can do to parent their children.
Enter in the wayward child that we see today. Parents cannot parent due to fear of the government and the government is not equipped to take on the full responsibility of parenting all the children they have helped corrupt. So people reach for medication or therapy when perhaps the only thing they needed in the first place was the ability to parent their children without the fear of the government.
Last night I turned on my radio and ran across an interview on Fox. I want to say it was right before the Laura Ingraham show, but I am not certain because I was listening in my Jeep. I heard an interview with some residents of Chicago that broke my heart. One lady mentioned how bringing in the National Guard and putting a curfew in place would be about the only way to help the city. After I made it home, I found the program it was on, so I want to post the interview and show you how this city is dealing with their anguish.
You know, I am not a supporter of Trump or really anyone at this point. However, I do find myself liking Andrew Yang because he is the only one not trying to cash in on the shootings from this weekend. At this point, I just find it incredibly sad that people are saying that they need help and so many of our leaders aren’t listening. It brings me back to the Janise Harris case when she was reported missing and then social media was able to grab on and she was found in a matter of hours. During those hours, tweets went out to President Trump, Senator Harris, Senator Booker, Oprah Winfrey, and Former President Obama. It was trending half of the day for the United States and nobody said a word. This 15 year old Chicagoan was missing and not even the leaders in Chicago would take notice. Finally, after hours more the outlets in Chicago took notice. Yet, the mayor and the representatives of the city stood silent. As a result of the neglect, the city has become under siege by crime. They had a shooting take place on Sunday which saw at least 7 people die in two different incidents with more that 50 people injured. This is the information from their CBS news.
In the 90’s I visited Chicago, that was my first time seeing people get shot at. From out of nowhere a group of young guys came running and you could see a little stream of smoke. They yelled that someone was shooting at them and my friend and I both ducked down and hid as they continued running on their way. It was a real wake up call for me and my future in Chicago. Needless to say, I soon called my parents and asked if they would buy me a ticket to come back to Texas.
The harsh fact is that the residents of Chicago might not have any other choice but to live in Chicago or sadly, die in Chicago because that appears to be the outcome. Our government has forgotten them even today we hear about the other two mass shootings, but we hear very little about how Chicago is dealing with their death. We do not talk about how a hospital had to stop taking victims in Chicago because of the amount of wounded.
In many ways it feels as if we are leaving a man down in a burning building while we are looking for others to save. Once again leadership comes into view. Who are the leaders and what are they doing to improve their towns? Gun control should not just be a focus when the climate seems ripe and ready to yield a reward for those running for office.
In cities like Chicago gun control might not be enough anymore. We might need to start bringing in martial law just like the citizen asked on the Fox program last night. What are your feelings on bringing marital law to an American city if it means saving the city in the process? Please vote below.
President Trump, AOC, Senator Harris, Senator Booker, and many more, today started out with a frantic cry for help. You didn’t hear it, even though we the citizens called out your names loudly in our moments of despair. We witnessed yet another attack on another child and then there was silence from those who normally speak the loudest.
Our children are being attacked one by one and nobody seems to hear us. While you were sleeping Janise Harris was attacked by a group of girls. She was beaten and taunted. As if that wasn’t enough her attackers then put her on the wrong bus not caring if she made it home or not. This story hits home for me because my daughter was attacked years ago and just like Janise, she too bent over to diminish the pain from the blows. I’m not sure if Janise has been to the ER but I recall when we took my child to the ER and saw the words assault written across the diagnoses page.
I recall feeling helpless and invisible much like Janise’s friends felt at the start of this morning until Twitter happened. You see, it would have been nice to hear from any of you to show that you could have taken a moment out of your day to just send one simple tweet about helping children who are bullied. Yet, you all had your campaigns to worry about while our children were worrying about living.
Is this the version of America you want to give us? Do you only want to talk about race related issues that divide this country? Today, I’ll have you know that we all worked together to try to find Janise. We were Republicans, Democrats and even us crazy Independents rolled up our sleeves and pressed on the Tweet button. Around 5 PM we were notified that Janise was found safe, but she will have a lot of trauma to deal with because of the attack. I just thought you should know what you missed while you were arguing.
If your family vacations are anything like mine, most of them result in trips to the ER, after all the fun ends. YEAH!! However, this year we are planning to go about it another way. We will plan the perfect vacation for people on a budget. The first thing we do is look for fun things near our state. It gives the children a chance to go out of state without making us pay so much in gas. This year the winner is!!
The winner is New Mexico. Some of you might be wondering why New Mexico. Well New Mexico has an ice cave! My husband and I love the idea, I’m wondering how the children will like it. I think it will be a surprise because they aren’t into science like me. However, I want them to respect nature because while it is beautiful, it also has the ability to change life as we know it. Most of our trips have something to do with nature. I would love to go to Yellowstone, it really is a dream. Yet, it isn’t close enough for us and would hurt the budget. We try to find fun things that will allow us fun minus the guilt of spending after we get back home.
This year I plan on learning more about the adventure prior to pulling up to the site, God Willing! I will be a good mommy and make sure I pack lots of water and bananas. We will need to bring a bag with clothing that will protect us from the coldness inside the cave which shouldn’t be too costly. We have bags around the house and we can just use our normal cold weather clothing.
The first thing I like to do is google the distance of the place. It should take us around 13 hours to get to the cave. I have a Jeep that uses e85 gas so I think we are looking at 300 bucks in gas give or take 100 bucks either way. My husband is a state worker so he can get hotel rooms a little cheaper which will get us a better rate on a room. Trying to spend no more than 100 on a room per night which gives us at least two nights without drama. The park fee is 12 per adult, so we are looking at 60 for the whole family. Breakfast will consist of something from the hotel and packed lunches while we are touring.
While I bet New Mexico has nice local authentic food, we normally just stick to the dollar menu for dinner. Normally, our vacations always end with an ER visit because someone does something crazy. One vacation my husband hit is head on the cave ceiling. I was just about to say something to warn him before he hit his head, but I was too late. He started having severe headaches which warranted a visit to the ER.
The other incident involved me sitting in a hard spot for five hours. LOL Hardspot! Get it! LOL okay, my sense of humor is my own. Anyway, after we made it to the car, I sat with my leg bent in the air for like three more hours. By the time I got home, I couldn’t walk. Turns out I hurt my butt, I didn’t even know that was a thing. I still swear I felt something jiggle around when I was walking. The nurses in the ER were laughing about it, but I was quite worried.
Lastly, my daughter’s spider bite got infected by the other place we visited. We were having fun in the water which turned out to be irritating her bite. The doctor said it happens more times than people realize. We think those bandages are good for protection, but they can fail. Alison’s bandage came right off and that was what caused the infection. So, this year we will be adding a first aid supply kit to the trip. We are just too clumsy not to have one.
Are you planning anything fun this summer for your family?
