Birthday From Hell Because $100 Bucks Was Too Little

It is a little after three in the morning, and I am still reeling from my daughter’s birthday. In my family, we have a tradition. Every birthday person gets a certain amount of money and their special day. However, after 12 AM hits, all bets are off.

Well, since COVID-19 happened, we had to cut back on somethings. This year we put in place a $100 maximum per birthday. Last month was the 15-year old’s birthday, and she lost 50 of her 100 at the mall. A typical birthday is celebrated all day until midnight. Every single person in the family watches the shows that are picked by the birthday girl or boy. It can be hell day for the ones of us who hate anime, or horror shows because you can bet one of those two will be on the menu. However, most of the time the birthday person picks a meal that the entire family likes which makes up for the horrible shows!!!!

The entire week including on the 27th, my daughter was adamant about not wanting 100 bucks because she said it wouldn’t buy anything. She wanted $200 and insisted that we fork over $200 or nothing at all. I informed her; that she was headed for a rude awakening, but she insisted that she would not be part of any celebrations if we gave her 100.

So, yesterday came, and I didn’t give her anything. She woke up, and it pretty much went downhill from there. She didn’t want to watch anything; she wanted to argue the entire time. I went into my room and shut the door. Hours later, she was ready to be civil, she was happy to finish her day off with cake and dinner.

I told my husband that I wasn’t sure about not giving her the money but that she needed to understand the meaning of gratefulness. I explained to her that there is a country full of people who cannot even get a pack of chicken for dinner, but she had the nerve to stick her nose up at $100 bucks because it wasn’t enough. Part of me feels bad about not giving it to her, but the other part feels like she got the message. Afterward, when she asked if maybe we would think about giving it to her later, it looked like she understood that it was a blessing instead of a big fat nothing. It was a hard day, but I think it a lesson in humility was needed. People do what they can , and it is a blessing no matter the gift.

Currently Viewing Bridgerton After Watching Lark Rise To Candleford

I love romances set in the historical period, so I love authors like Julia Quinn, Judith McNaught, Mary Balogh, and Lisa Kleypas. I’ve just finished up Lark Rise to Candleford, which was written by Flora Thompson. I must say I loved the show!

I am only on episode two of Bridergerton. Before I go on, I must say I love the costumes, casting, and the way the period has come to life. I am also loving the different take on music from today’s artist, yet the sounds are set in an almost classical style. This makes me want to go out and get yet another book by Julia Quinn. I would love to see if any fans of Julia Quinn’s books, would love to team up and watch this together!

I am in episode two if anyone wants to join. https://www.tele.pe/netflix/162c5460a9ecff8e?s=s123

President Trump’s Threat to Veto $900 Billion Stimulus Package Blows Up Right Before Christmas

If you were looking to get a check next week, you might have to wait a little longer. Trump went on the record this week stating how the current package was not enough for the Americans who were needing a lifeline to help stay afloat. While many of us have watched these deals burn out of the Senate floor, some of us were cautiously awaiting for a positive outcome this time. Sadly, it is much of the same. One would have to wonder if Trump did this on purpose. He signed an Executive order last month about getting stimulus out to the people and nothing was able to come from it. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/08/us/politics/trump-stimulus-bill-coronavirus.html What made him think they would listen to him now? Now the American people will have to wait who knows how long before anyone gets any help.

It has not been a secret that the Senate Republicans and some House Republicans have not wanted to approve a stimulus over or at the $1200 mark, due to debt ceiling concerns. Yet, there have been so many expensive things coming from this administration. It appears as though, once again Americans will have to pull ourselves up and dust ourselves off. This is about class warfare. Nobody seems to care about the poor people or the people who are losing jobs in this country. It is fine for the people to go out and make the rich richer, but when those same people need help, nobody cares.

What this latest snub tells Americans is that no matter how bad the bleeding gets, these Reps will remain true to THEIR agenda. We will have millions of people losing their housing this month. Yet, the Senate stalls once again. If people do not have a place to stay, they will not be able to work. The America we knew before COVID has taken a blow of catastrophic measures and it is due to poor leadership.

It has become a semi-norm for this group of Representatives to fight and forget about their number one job, which should be helping the American people. This is yet another reason why many fear a Republican led Senate. For some reason Republicans are having a hard time understanding what the American people need right now. As always, vote for the person who wants your family to come out on top. Party lines cannot save you.

We will problem solve our way through this nightmare. Do not forget about companies like Uber, Doordash, Waitr, and Grubhub. They offer delivery jobs to people who can pass a criminal check and in some locations, you can deliver with a bike. Ubereats lets people create their own schedule. This means you pick any hour you wish to deliver.

So, in order to celebrate this newest mockery from Congress, I leave you with this! Charles Dickens said it best!

Ps, my birthday is on the 20th of January, I have asked for a Biden cake! I hope the bakery does it for me. Can’t wait to show you! Hang in there my friends, next month will be here before you know it.

Is There A COVID Indifference?

The COVID-19 tally for my family is going up. With the increase of cases, one thing remains clear; there is a difference in how people receive care. Right now, the tally for COVID cases in my family stands at 9. My sister had COVID with her husband and our cousins. My husband’s sister and her husband had COVID-19, which also bled down to their children.

Earlier this week, my daughter informed me that her boyfriend and his mother were diagnosed with COVID. I asked her boyfriend about their medication and found out the doctors prescribed Z-packs. I asked her boyfriend if he and his mother were prescribed any other medications he stated no.

Part of me wanted to believe that this was perhaps normal. However, I knew from talking to our family members when they dealt with COVID that check-ups were frequent. I told him about the vitamins that the doctors used to help our loved ones get better.

I do not want to believe that money plays such a role in how people get treatment for this virus, but it looks like money is a factor. You have two families of the upper-middle class who receive great care. Then you have a Mexican family barely above the poverty line that is told to go home and rest.

I would like to believe that perhaps there is something I might be missing, but why were these people simply told to go home and rest? Why are so many people told to go home and rest and later come back with raging cases of COVID? Just curious.
