Schools With COVID IN Texas Are staying Open.

With cases showing up every few days, some Texas schools are refusing to close or switch to fulltime remote learning. This month we have had at least four different letters sent home about children with COVID-19. It is a very alarming situation which results in fear and anger amongst parents, like myself. At some point I would love to send my girls to school, but I do not see that happening. I do not blame the schools, I blame our leaders. When you check the dashboard, it doesn’t give up-to-date information. If you do not have a child in school or attached to the school, you wouldn’t even know how horrible the situation is getting.

These are 4 different letters, starting from the 15 of this month to the 26th of the month. Does this look under control to you?

This is why we have rises in cases.

Why This Election Feels so urgent

I don’t think I have ever counted down an election or followed one as I follow the 2020 election. It is so stressful in many ways. I remember growing up listening to my father and mother talk about stressful times. Today, we are living in stressful times. Right now feels like an unforeseen pressure closing in on you, yet there is nothing you can do. There are many Americans hurting right now. It isn’t due to lockdowns, it is due to the lack of urgency in our government to tackle the problems from state to state. I live in Texas and we are not locked down, yet it doesn’t stop cars from lining up at food centers, in any given city. Our county will ramp up a new program to help homeless Texans in our area. Any idea how the new cases are forcing such a program to appear? COVID-19!

I check the polls three and four times a day. Perhaps, it is out of fear, or it is because we have a lot to lose with this election. During the 2016 election, a lot of us did not know Trump; we only knew we were tired of politicians. Now that we have gotten a face full of who he is, it is clear, America does not need him as a leader.

I think Biden has a chance to do something unique. He has a chance to unite the country by uniting political parties. He is also a living lesson. Biden reminds me of Saul on the road to Damascus. He was persecuting Christians when he was stopped by God and asked why was he persecuting him. Saul’s heart was good. He thought he was doing the right thing for God until he learned how God felt. Then he would go on to be called Paul and would preach the word of the Lord across the world.

This was no easy task for Paul, who once was called Saul. The people knew him as this problematic person that dealt harshly with Christians. He would spend the rest of his life trying to undo the wrongs he committed and carry out God’s will. If Paul could be forged out of something the Lord made and turned into a compass for Christians, God can change the heart of anyone. Perhaps, we are changed by the sorrows we face.

I guess I see Biden’s problematic policies against black people, like myself, in that light. Somehow he learned to be better and to care about all people. Perhaps, that is the reason I support him. He was humbled, and now God can use him. I fear the secrets I cannot see, more than the secrets that aren’t so secret anymore.

Not to mention, the more Trump calls for his arrest, and his son’s arrest shows how un-American Trump is at this moment. Why is he calling for the forced removal of his political rivals? That is a very Russian thing to do, and it screams of scandal. A person with nothing to hide or nothing to fear doesn’t act this way. So, I am fearful. At this moment, I am heading into November with fear because I do not trust our leader. His heart remains hidden from the people.

Understanding Why There Is An enormous Chance For a Biden blow out

If you are wondering why the polls are looking in favor of former Vice President Joe Biden, look no further than the COVID-19 storm that soaked America. The storm has somewhat left the houses and is now standing in the lines waiting to cast their votes. You had the majority of people making sure they socially distanced and then another small group that seemed to want to poke fun at the group wearing their mask. While standing in line the first morning of voting, a young duo rudely cut in and disregarded the people who had been waiting behind them for hours. Some of these people waiting in line included wounded veterans like my husband. He had been pushing through the pain for hours. As the crowd made it to the doorway, the duo thought it was a good idea to take off their mask and try to gain entry into the building.

Here in Texas, there are counties under a mask mandate, and our county happens to be one of those mandated towns. As the election worker asked the duo to put their masks on, they insisted that they did not bring any face protection. They then stated that the mandate had ended and that the election workers did not know the law. I assure you, the mandate has not ended, but this is the driving force behind the votes that will be coming Biden’s way. After the disruption started to bleed into the people in line, the workers informed the duo that they would need to clear out the entire building if they did not have a mask. They went on to explain how this would take time, and it would be the only way they would be allowed to enter. They did not want to wait for the building to be cleared, so they pulled out their masks and put them on as they entered the building.

The duo entered the building with an angry group of voters standing in line, talking about how they lost friends and loved ones to COVID-19. The COVID-19 response spells out the reason for the blowout. When we hear about the more than 7 million people getting COVID-19, we zero in on the 200,000 lives snipped away; we do not think about the families of those people. For at least each person, we have to assume they had at least one family member. While not all cases of COVID were deadly as the 200,000 cases, they were still life-altering cases to some degree. Those cases came with mandatory isolation and quarantines that lasted for weeks.

For many people, the sickness produced results that either saw them cramped up in hospitals or numerous trips to the doctor for anything from breathing treatment medication to a barrage of oral medication. My own family dealt with a high fever for nearly nine days. We are talking about a fever that would send people to the hospital in normal circumstances. Meanwhile, as all of this is going on, we family members are taking note. We are looking at what our loved ones are going through, and one thought seems to keep coming to mind. It didn’t have to be this way.

Now, back to the numbers! As we stated, most likely, the 7 million cases had at least one family member and at least one friend. Now, if you take that number and multiply it by 3, you have twenty-one million people with lives directly caught up in COVID-19 cases. In most cases, these people had more than one family member, and I am willing to bet they had more than one friend. We are talking about co-workers watching their loved ones die, and at times families of 19 coming down with the virus.

We haven’t even started talking about the people who no longer have jobs due to the virus or the people who have seen their hours cut back due to COVID-19. After you add all of those people, the number quickly could be as high as 1/3 of the American population has seen hardships due to COVID-19. That is what I would consider a minimum. So, in my opinion, we are seeing this large surge for Biden because COVID-19 has treated America like a tsunami would treat a small island in its way. It has changed our cities, our culture, and the way we interact on a daily basis.

President Trump talks about Law and Order, but he fails to understand that there is an enormous population of this country undergoing a very grueling pandemic. While some might view the fight as being almost over, I can assure you, the ones dealing with COVID right now do not see it that way. What are your thoughts?

COVID-19 And Your Purse

With the election around the corner, it is more important than ever to understand the weight of our decision and how it will hinder healthcare. My sister and her husband both had COVID-19. Thankfully, they were able to get through the quarantine without having to be hospitalized. However, the COVID-19 fight includes numerous visits to the doctor. Their fever was high for nearly nine days of the 14 that they spent in quarantine. Not only did they have high fevers, but they had reoccurring breathing treatments for their pneumonia.

With them both having to go to the doctor every two days to get medication and periodically trying new cocktails of meds, they were able to get better. My cousins still have COVID-19 and seem to be doing fine with their medication. My sister caught her COVID-19 at the beginning, and she was in good health. She is someone that takes her vitamins religiously; this was something she did before getting COVID.

We are grateful for their recovery, but this ordeal showcased another situation that many of us do not think about daily. While we often hear about COVID-19 being the biggest threat to people with underlining health conditions, we ignore another group. We do not think about people with little to no health coverage. When a person gets COVID-19, they will have multiple visits to the doctors and different assortments of medications, which all come hand in hand with good benefits.

To put it in simple terms, if you do not have insurance, you are jacked. Since COVID-19 is such a nasty virus and it can kill, it is unthinkable that anyone would think about taking away medical benefits during a situation like this. If you do not have insurance, your treatment chances will not be the same as someone with insurance. When you think about all the millions of Americans who are out of work and uninsured, it becomes a larger issue.

Would you be able to afford a COVID-19 diagnosis?
